Gender Stereotypes

I believe that gender stereotypes really whithold people from being more open minded to getting to know who ot her people are. As an example in the movie Mean Girls the stereotype of highschool girls were that they were stuck up and only cared about their looks and social status. In turn whoever watched that movie reflected what they saw into their own thought process of how they judge young women. In all reality the mass majority of young woman in highschool do not fit the "Mean Girls" stereotype at all. Even though the movie was very funny it beat young women's image to a pulp.

  1. I agree with Adam when he says that the movie "Mean Girls" kind of made fun of the high school girls. It made most of us look like we are stuck up brats. The movie puts a comic relief to some things that go on in high school but in reality it isnt so much like that with social status. In the movie it makes it look like soical status is everything but its not really like that. It put pressure on some girls to fit a certain sterotype when in reality its not like that at all.

  2. I also agree with adam when it comes to girl sterotypes and the movie "Mean Girls". The movie shows how there is that unrealistic and superficial standard that most girls envy and want to achieve. This is not a good thing though. it brings down high school girls' confidence and self-esteem when it comes to the way they see themselves. Although the movie was funny and maybe a bit dramatic as far as some of the things the "plastics" did, all together i think it depicts what high school is like for teenage girls.
