At Groves, we do have a culture that many people try to fit into. We have the typical groups like the athletes and the theater kids. Groves has many different races and ethnictitys within it and many people try to find their perfect match of people to hang out with. Unfortunately, even at this school people of different races and ethnic backgrounds seem to stick together. The Jewish kids hangs out with the Jewish kids and african american kids hang out with the african american kids. At Groves we can all be in the same school together and get along fine but when it comes time for the weekend we usually stick to our roots. There are some pressures you feel to fit in but usually you know you will be accepted with your own friends and group. I don't think that at Groves we have problems with people going to great lengths in order to fit in.

  1. I agree with molly on this one. I think that in a school atmosphere, people of different ethnic backgrounds hang out and socialize with each other without thinking much of it. Like molly said though, once the weekend comes around you tend to stick to people of your same race. It might not be the best thing in the world but its the reality of it. For some reason, after that school bell rings people feel much more comfortable with friends of the same race. I dont think its a big deal to be honest with you. People pay too much attention to things like race and spreading cultural diversity then they need to. Let kids be kids without them worrying about cultural differences.

  2. Molly has a valid point in which saying that kids at Groves do not have a very hard time finding friends, they just have to stick with their roots. I used to go to seahlom where there was basically no diversity at all, everyone is white. Since everyone is the same race they are all similar but base their friends off of their personalities more rather than their race. In a diverse society different racial groups are alwasy willing to accept their own, giving everyone a certain comfort.
